Orange

Sweet orange is the most popular citrus fruit in the world. It originated in China and was brought to Europe by Portuguese merchants through the Silk Road. In the IX century Sicilian landscapes, where hills gently alternate with plains, started filling with citrus groves. Still today, several varieties of oranges are grown on the island in Southern Italy: among blond oranges there are Navelina, Valencia and Ovale; among red oranges they offer Moro, Sanguinello and Tarocco.
